The evening begins in the biggest theatre we can find, we host a huge cocktail party that leads you into the biggest independent film premiere in the state. Films such as "Confidence,” "Happy Endings,” “Akeelah and The Bee,” “Fracture,” and “The Visitor” have traditionally opened the festival, with filmmakers and actors on board for intros and Q&A with audience members.

After the opening night screening the crowd will head back out to the Arizona Republic Festival Lounge for the Opening Night Party.



Friday, April 3, 2009

Film Screenings begin at 9 am for the public. Enjoy the finest in independent film all day long.

Friday morning marks the start of the Middle and High School Educational Outreach Seminar.  Students will engage in panel discussions with local, national, celebrity, and independent filmmakers on topics such as documentary films and narrative films.

Friday Night Bash - Be prepared to start the partying, as the Friday Night Bash kicks off the weekend's festivities!



Saturday, April 4, 2009

More screenings:  Six screens start screening at 9 am until 1 am, with Seminars and Workshops during the day in front of the theatre.

If you buy a VIP pass, you’ll have a chance to mingle with the celebrities and filmmakers in a casual setting.

Saturday is also when we hold the biggest party of the Festival, featuring great entertainment. You can’t miss this one!

We close out the weekend with yet another party, and also announce the winners of the Copper Wing Awards, the Festival's prestigious Competition Awards.

Film screenings continue at 5 pm, 7pm and 9pm. Check out the award winners all week long plus some new Arizona premieres.

Educational Outreach continues with screenwriting.  Monday’s program will take students through the screenwriting process.  Students will pitch their ideas and watch their work be performed in a staged reading by local actors.

Check out more award winners all week long plus some new Arizona premieres.  Film screenings continue at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm.

Educational Outreach continues Wednesday providing students the opportunity to participate in hands-on and break-out activities.  These future filmmakers will get the chance to conceptualize a storyboard and participate in panel discussions with guest professionals.

Film screenings continue today at 5 pm

Closing Night Event starts at 7:30. A final big screening will be held in the Harkins Cine-Capri with celebrity Filmmakers and a big film to close out the 9th annual Phoenix Film Festival.

The Closing Night Party will follow the 7:30 film. We will be "Calling it a Wrap" with a big Thursday Night Bash and giving you one last chance to enjoy the festival!  Stay out late and call in to work sick the next day! After all, the Phoenix Film Festival only comes around once a year.

Please join us for the biggest film festival in Arizona and the best Phoenix Film Festival yet. Come out and enjoy the festival all week long, sleeping is overrated.
